Emergency & Crisis Support

Halton and Hamilton Region offers a variety of emergency and crisis support services tailored to assist seniors and their families. Here are some key resources available:

Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST): A collaboration between CMHA Halton and Halton Regional Police Services, COAST provides immediate support to individuals aged 16 and over experiencing mental health crises. You can reach the 24/7 crisis line at 1-877-825-9011. 

Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS): For non-emergency situations, HRPS can be contacted at 905-825-4747. They also operate an Elder Services Unit that addresses issues such as neglect and financial abuse among seniors.

Distress Centre Halton: Offering 24/7 telephone crisis support, Distress Centre Halton serves residents of Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills. Contact them at 905-681-1488 (Burlington) or 905-849-4541 (Oakville).

Elder Abuse Support: Halton Women's Place provides confidential support for seniors facing abuse. Their 24-hour crisis lines are available at 905-332-7892 (Burlington & Oakville) and 905-878-8555 (Milton & Halton Hills).

Seniors Mental Health Services: St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton offers mental health outpatient and outreach programs for seniors in the Halton region. For more information, call 905-681-8233 or toll-free at 1-866-429-7677. 

Seniors at Risk in Hamilton Collaborative : Funded by Ontario Health-West, this program is a collaboration between Good Shepherd Centres, the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton and Halton and St. Matthew’s House to provide care management for those facing challenges with memory, housing and abuse.
